I am exploring the use of repetition by different designers and artists. Repetition plays a huge part in the textiles and fashion industry and repeating something can have a huge impact(not least visually).
My own work falls under the influence of repetetive processes and materials.
Some of the artists and designers I will be looking at include Yoiyoi Kusama, Damien Hirst, Philip Treacy and Hussein Chalayan and Andy Warhol.
I want to find out why they 'repeat' - does repetition increase meaning or dilute meaning? This is the question I intent to answer.
